Shri. S . R. Reddy is a blessed person by dint of hard work and singular devotion to service. Born to humble beginnings he rose to become one of the doyens of the education sector of North Karnataka. His pioneering efforts revolutionized the education scenario in North Karnataka.
Endowed with sharp business acumen, a balanced perspective and a social bent of mind he set up the Navodaya Education trust in 1992 for furthering his dream of shaping young minds through quality education. Shri S.R.Reddy proved all skeptics wrong as witnessed by the mushrooming growth of Raichur as a formidable centrer of world class education. In close to two decades it has grown into a large educational campus with 15 institutions catering to diverse fields of education such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Education, with more than 2500 students and 1000 teaching & non teaching faculty on a throbbing 65 acre campus!
It was the vision of Shri . S . R . Reddy that modern professional education must remain true to the spirit of Indian ethos and culture.
He insisted on value-based education, believing firmly that a community uncaring for its traditions is decadent and insubstantial. He was passionate about propagating the proper education and the promotion of sound health. He envisaged Navodaya as the Nalanda of learning where students and teachers from all parts of the world would live in an intellectual life to achieve their cherished dreams. No sketch of Shri . S .R . Reddy can be complete without mentioning his compassion to sound health in backward districts of North Karnataka. He established NMCH&RC in 2002 in the Raichur District, to alleviate the problems and suffering of the tribal community.
With the zeal of a visionary he has ventured into areas of incipient development and has worked tirelessly to enhance the infrastructure of the region and to upgrade the socio-economic status of the residents. With equal perseverance, he has sought to challenge old ideas and outdated policies, replacing them with globally-relevant and dynamic concepts of education. His global interactions have led him to identify and introduce several need-based initiatives into the Indian education system.
